Lace Up for a Cause: The Upcoming Elevate Credit Union Charity 5K
Runners, walkers, and families across Cork are preparing for the upcoming Elevate Credit Union Charity 5K, taking place on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Tramore Valley Park.
Whether you are aiming to break personal records, enjoy a casual morning jog, or push a buggy with friends, this community-focused event welcomes all fitness levels. Held on a smooth, chip-timed tarmac course spanning two 2.5km loops, the race features goody bags for participants, prizes for top adult and under-16 finishers, and a special €100 cash bonus for anyone who manages to break the official course records (15:49 for men and 17:36 for women).
All proceeds raised from this year's entry fees and donations will directly benefit vital local services: Blackwater Sub Aqua Club and Down Syndrome Cork (Field of Dreams). Registration ranges from €6 to €12, with tickets available online via Eventmaster or through cash sign-ups on the morning of the race.
A Look Back: Event History The annual charity run has grown steadily into a beloved autumn fixture on Cork’s local sports calendar, marking its 7th running this year. Originally established as a community initiative by Douglas Credit Union—which later rebranded to Elevate Credit Union following strategic community mergers, including Passage West & Monkstown, Glanmire, and more recently Synergy Credit Union. The event was created to directly support impactful local charities.
In its earlier years, the 5K partnered with organizations like Féileacáin (the Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Association of Ireland), drawing a record-breaking milestone turnout of 238 runners during its fourth year. Over successive years, the event has expanded its reach to support other critical frontline volunteer and health networks like Meals on Wheels and the Irish Kidney Association, raising thousands of euros for community causes along the way.
